- The founding artists created astep by step guideabout the zentangle method and how to articulately appreciate this art form. Begin by offering gratitude and appreciation for thezentangle drawing practice. You get the features you need. Cotton paper, pen or pencil.
- Draw the corner points. Next you startdraw dots on paper. Put points in each corner. The paper used is museum grade cotton paper which does not limit you in any other way. Using the 3.5-inch square paper, draw light dots along each edge and continue to the next step.
- Draw borders. Now is the time to connect the dots using lines, straight or curved, there are no hard and fast rules about it. It's meant to be art anyway.
- Draw string lines.Nowdraw string linesto separate tiles into sections. It can also be in any shape.
- Tangle. Now the fun begins. This is where you draw your desire patterns. The predefined sequence of single strokes that you deliberately make to form a pattern.
- Shade. Colors are usually black and white, a graygraphite pencil but can include colorsof your choice.

## Zentangle Patterns Explained

### 1) direct line

Start with the zentangle method, draw the dots, join them to make a border or a square, and start to tangle it. Draw 4 horizontal lines with the same difference in width between them. Draw diamond shapes that move vertically, connecting with the horizontal lines. They should have 4 lines of diamonds across the width of the square.

You can have full diamond shapes in one and in the next you can start with an inverted triangle. Shade the inside of the diamonds with a dark shade. Lightly shade the remaining white parts to make it look like grayish nail polish, darken the edges of the square for a fuller color palette.

### 2) black box

As the name suggests, you will be drawing boxes inside the square. Draw the square dome using the zentangle method and draw lines inside the square to form boxes. Make sure the lines appear as double lines. Shade the inside of the 16 boxes very dark, in the end you should have a dark surface with vertical and horizontal double lines. For a final touch, shade the intersection of the line with the same dark shade and you're done.

### 3) black-eyed beans

Starting like the zentangle method, once you get to the square step, start drawing bean-like shapes on the square, filling in every inch of the space. All beans should have a distinctive black spot. Shade the bean glaze-like shapes with a lighter shade of pencil. All ready!

### 4) blooming butter

With the same resources, start to get entangled. Draw short double lines from the center of a point. You can have 3 points on the paper. Where the 4 double lines intersect, draw a similar small shape, secure the top of the lines with an inward curve. Do the same with the other flower zentangles. Shadow, the interior of the flowers, lighter with the initial lines with a darker tone.

### 5) Ties

Gather your resources and start designing. Start with your square and start shading. Draw vertical lines and horizontal lines to make a quadrant, then smaller lines to make about 16 smaller squares. At all other intersections draw a circle, you should have 4 circles by the end of this step. Then in the middle of the square, which should be empty, draw a diamond. Continue to the top intersection with the edges of the square, there should be 9 diamond shapes with the ones on the edge looking like triangles.

If you look closely at the shapes you have, they should be circles, but with sharp edges. Start coloring opposite sides of the circle, leaving the dark and white parts all over. Each quadrant should have 6 dark dots and 6 white dots for equality. After that, you can lightly shade a few white pieces on the square. To your liking, of course, when you're done, you'll have finished drawing the zentangle of the bow ties.

### 6) BTI Josh

Start with you a sheet of paper and apencil, draw the points, limit and get the square. Draw 2 curved lines from one corner to the other, as if you were drawing a river going up or down. Then draw small lines that enclose the lines so that you can have a segmented river. Draw another stream from the opposite side so that it intersects somewhere on the bottom side near the base of the square.

Now start shading other segments of the hypothetical river. Do this on both lines. On the dark-toned sections, draw curls that come off the edge. Like a curly hair, do this on both sides of the river. Shade the curls with a lighter shade of pencil for an artistic feel, you're all set.

### 7) Bucky

With a sheet of paper and pencil, draw border lines for art, form vertical and horizontal lines to create 16 boxes in the square. Now draw diagonal lines that move in only one direction to get 32 triangles. On each triangle, draw dark dots. Now draw hexagonal shapes with the same diagonal direction as the lines. Align the shapes moving inwards as if to form an internal web. Start shading, you can only add small touches to the line, but nothing dark, as this will interrupt the pattern. All ready!

### 8) Flashlight bulb

Starting with your role andpencil,Start by drawing small orbits on paper. Like the globe, or onion bulbs, but smaller. You can draw up to 3 of them. You can draw the onion bulbs by starting with a straight line and then curving from one edge to the other. Then draw zigzag lines on the lamp covers. Add dots between the 3 bulbs and shade lightly.

### 9) they fall

Take your paper and pen, draw the squareand start rolling. Draw dots inside and on the edges of the square as if you wanted to join the lines to make smaller squares, but don't connect them, leave them as dots. Begin by joining the lines with curved lines from point to point. So for all points. Shade the inside of the right sides of the curved line. It should look like attached patches. All ready!

### 10) Centrifuge

With your usual resources, draw your square and start tangling. Draw 2 diagonal lines and other smaller lines inside the square to make a slanted square inside the square. You should have a square box with 4 quadrants. In each quadrant, draw a smaller square inside it, and then draw a circle inside the smaller square. On the circle again, place a small bow underneath like a smiley face. Web out of the first square box. The remaining spaces that remain. Now shade the central area between the circle and the second square. Lightly shade the lines that form webs on the outside, moving towards the inner circle. You can also darken the shadow of the first square to show where all the artwork started.

### 11) Swiss chard

With the zentangle method, draw points, borders and the square. Now draw diagonal lines in each square to have triangles. Now on each side of the triangle you will bedraw vertical or horizontal lines. If you place one with the vertical, the other side of the triangle should be opposite. Shade the diagonal lines you drew first with a dark shade, and shade the center of the other lines with a lighter shade. Don't overdo any of the squares or you'll ruin the pattern. All ready.

### 12) Chemistry

From the initial steps of the zentangle method, draw the square and from the base start todraw a vaseor a mixing glass used for chemical reactions. After drawing this, draw small circles or bean-like shapes on the inside of the vase, draw others in an upward motion to show the falling rocks. In circular designs, you can place a small vertical or horizontal line. Shading is optional. All ready!

### 13) Corner box

Starting with a sheet of paper andpencil drawto the square. Then draw horizontal and vertical lines across the square to form smaller squares. Now draw inverted circles in each square. When you're done, it should look like a river meandering across the sheet of paper. Most of the lines will meet and intersect at different points on the paper. For each semicircle, draw lines of radius. Start shading the inside of the ray lines for more color. Do not touch the remaining white parts. All ready!

### 14) Cube

Starting with the zentangle method, draw a square and lines in the box to form 4 quadrants. Now add more vertical and horizontal lines to form equally small squares in the square. Then draw little boxes on the edge of each box, preferably on the bottom left edge of each box. Shade the small boxes inside the larger box. Draw a straight line from the shaded box to the edge of the larger box, as if you were dividing it into a triangle. One side of the triangle, the top side, shades one shade lighter compared to the box. Make sure you do this for all the triangles, you're good to go.

### 15) Tops

Begin withdrawing to cross lines to form a crosssign. Add an additional line in a quadrant.Draw umbrella shapes on each line to create a star.. When you're done, draw another line inside the star to fold the lining. Now start drawing other umbrella shapes over the gaps left between the stars to make a bigger star. Go where you feel the star is big enough. Shade your design with dark and light tones.

### 16) Dagamente

With a sheet of paper and pencil, start with the zentangle method and when you get to the square step, start todraw swirling circles from the center of the paperall the way to the edges of the border lines. Plus, draw a vertical line down the middle followed by a horizontal line, then the 2 diagonal lines intersect in the middle of where you started drawing the spinning circles. Now draw curved lines over the circles as if you were drawing a moving tire on a wheel. They should look like they're moving, that's the concept. Now start shading the other potion while going round and round to the ends of the circles. When finished, it will look like a fascinating work of art.

### 17) Dex

Start with your features, then draw horizontal S shapes like 6 of them. Now combine the first curve of the first S with the other curve of the second S. Do the same with all of them and turn the paper over. Join the S on the bottom side. You should have attached a drawing similar to a mushroom.

### 18) Maze

Again with the initial square, draw lines to form the 4 quadrants, then draw other lines to form small equal squares. For each box, keep drawing smaller and smaller shapes of that box, as if you were minimizing the box frame. Do this on all the boxes. It should look like more than 64 boxes inside the square.

### 19) Sunbeam DL

Starting from the usual resources, draw the borders forming a square. Draw the smaller double line in the square. You should have about 16 boxes inside the square. From one box to another. Draw a curve at the edge of a square to simulate a bouncing sun, and lines from the circle to the edge of the small squares to simulate sun rays. Protect from the sun in each box so that it darkens. Lightly shade the line as well to show some intensity.

### 20) Ruins

Starting with the zentangle method, draw the border lines and then the star lines on the square. Double line at the corners of the star that look like triangles joined to a point. Start drawing circles in the middle of the square where everyone meets. Move from one triangle to another forming an umbrella. Continue in the same pattern until you reach the edges of the square. Inside the circles, draw radius lines all the way to the top. In the initial rows of stars, shade the rows darker and lighter as you go.more detailed drawingsstandards

### 21)Efilys

Start with a box, a small box. Extend each corner line into a long edge curve, like the end of a stair rail. Shade the outer edges of the box. There should be small shaded triangles between the border and the extended lines. Decorate with other tiny curls that come from the center of the line and project outwards.

### 22) Aeneas

Using the zentangle method, draw curved borders and draw small mountains within the boundaries. Draw other inverted curves where the gaps between the mountains form a patch on the drawing. Draw small stones on the patch and fill in all areas of the patch.

### 23) Ojo-Wa

Starting with the same sheet of paper and pencil, draw a square, you can divide it into 9 parts. Inside each square, draw leaf-like shapes. They must be 9 in total. Diagonally, shade the inside of the leaf shapes and the other parts, model the outer space of the leaf shape. That's all!

### 24) Aficionados

Also known as a falz, this zentangle pattern begins with the zentangle. Draw the edges to get the square. From the base, if it's a square, draw little curves like 6 of them. Start by overlapping the curves until you reach the top. The curves can look like a valley or sharp like an umbrella. In each alternating horizontal row of mountains, radius lines inside the circle. Begin shading the vase and the entire line encircles a lighter shade. You can also darken the border lines twice for a broader effect.

### 25) Feathers

Take your paper andpencil and start drawing. First draw the middle line of the blade, a curved line, moving up or down in any direction. Then draw the curves on both sides of the leaf, make the jagged or curly curves like the shape of a leaf. Shade the edges and small lines of the leaf. You can choose to draw other smaller patterns inside the sheet.

### 26) fescue

start with apen and paper, draw the edges to form a square. From the base, lines emerge as if drawing grass growing. Draw them in whatever direction your preform is, making sure the ends of the lines are shaded. When you're done, shade the baseline to simulate the ground.

### 27) Refinement

Elegance starts like the others with its features, borders and a square. She draws 3 curved lines from the left border line down. Connect the lines with smaller curves to make it look like one big sheet on the paper. Inside each small space, draw small diamonds or circles. Go to the end of the rows and add a curl to them, there should be 3 curls. Start shading, the edges of the sheet should be lighter than the ends of the wavy lines.

### 28) Worms

Starting with your paper and pencil, draw your square and two diagonal lines across the square. Then add 2 more diagonal lines from the bottom left edge up, combine them to make a square. Add 4 more diagonal lines in the same direction and another 4 in the opposite direction. You should now have squares, but they will look like diamonds. Draw right angle shapes inside each box. Shade the smallest box in each square. Now shade the edges of each left diagonal line with a lighter pencil shape.

### 29) Flores

In this type of zentangle, the usual resources are used, lines are drawn up and down to form little boxes. One side of the box should have jagged lines like a ladder. Start shading, draw small shaded diamonds in the corners inside the boxes. It should look like you are shading the corners of each box. Be sure to darken all the corners, even the edges.

### 30) Floating tile

Starting with the sheet of paper and pencil, draw the square first and then 5 stars in the square. The stars should only be in the shape of pencil lines. This means that you have to draw a horizontal line instead of a horizontal line and 2 extra diagonal lines. Join the corners of the star lines to form a web. The lines should be many and thin. You can add more half stars around the edge if the spaces seem empty. Start shading the connecting lines with dark and light colors to give it a spider web look. Finally, shade the white spaces that were previously white with a dark shade to make it look like you weredrawing in a dark gamepaper all set

### 31) Hybrid

A hybrid zentangle is a combination of 2 or more art designs combined. They can be flowers drawn together like tulips, sunflowers and two other flowers or they can be 4 other Zentagles together.

### 32) Vacation

Using the zentangle method, draw the edges to form a square. Draw small parallel lines from end to end. Draw many if they interconnect like a road, when you're done, shade in the areas that don't have roads. When you're done shading, it should look like tree trunks on a dark paper. Shade the roads with a lighter shade.

### 33) Hugs

This zentangle shape looks like a knot tied lengthwise. Start with the lines and the square.Draw dots instead of lines which would make 16 smallGrid. After placing the points. Place other smaller dots to form a 32-box design, but do not secure the dots with lines. When you arrive here. Begin by joining the points with curves. If you start with a concave, the best curves should be convex shapes. Attach all the points to the circle and start shading. Shade the horizontal lines with a dark shade and the horizontal lines with a lighter shade, in the end it should look like a knitted scarf.

### 34) Hurikan

The Hurikan looks like a synopsis article. Start with the limit and draw a curve. Shade the ends of the curve like a matchstick and continue drawing curves. Make sure the dark tips are the same for all the circles. Fill the entire circle with the spinning circles. Shade in the dark peaks that should line up at each corner of the square.

### 35) Hurry up

Take your piece of paper and pencil, draw your border lines and create a square. Now draw diagonal lines through the square. Add another 2 lines adjacent to the diagonal line to make it 3 joined lines against another 3 connected lines. From where they intersect, draw another 3 lines to the different 4 sides of the square, east, west, north, and south. Fill the portions with the same lines following the initial direction of the lining. Start by adding dark tones from the initial lines, working your way in and out. The smaller lines in the portions should be lighter shades than the first 6 lines you drew diagonally. All ready!

### 36) Disappointing

Use the zentangle method and draw the borders and the square. From a corner going down. Draw a solid infinity symbol or a solid number 8 attached to the other side of the corner. Draw a double line that you will use to shade the lining. Fill in the empty spaces in all 8 with pebbles. Any areas that have not been filled in with stone, shade them to show the stones on dark paper. Finish shading the double lines, it should be a shade lighter than the ones inside the stones.

### 37) Jongal

Start with your square shape and draw about four curves on the box, either from top to bottom or vice versa. On the other side of the box, draw sharp horizontal lines like a ladder from end to end, intersecting the 4 curved vertical lines. Start shading in other spaces. Why did you draw 4 lines an alternate line?draw lighter shades of pencilleaving the rest white.

### 38) Cobra Twelve

Start with the zentangle method, when you get to the tangled part, draw dots from corner to corner. Attach alternate points to form a mountain, the other alternate points should form peaks or curves on the other side. You should have something that looks like valleys on both sides. Shade the inside of the curves with lines like the rays of the sun. Shade the outer valley with a dark shade and a light shade on the inner lines.

### 39) Keeko

Take your sheet of paper and pencil, place dots, attach them to form borders for the design. From one edge draw about 5 horizontal lines and 5 vertical lines of the same length, follow the pattern to the bottom of the square. Continue across the paper until something similar to a treble design on a cloth is visible. Now it's time to shade, dark colored pencilon the horizontal line and a lighter shade on the vertical lines. Be sure to shade in the middle of the spaces instead of the lines, as the lines will make your art look sloppy. You can choose to do the opposite or mix and match to your liking.

### 40) Weaving

It all starts with the essentials, paper and pencil. Draw the edges, draw curved lines from one edge to the other. Draw different lines across the border. It should look like boxes but not straight because you used curved lines. Shade the boxes alternately so that one is light and the other is shaded black. You can add some light shading to the white boxes, nothing deeper than shadow.

### 41) Tied

Grab your usual resources and start designing. Draw two parallel curved lines from bottom to top on the page. It should look like a bridge, about 2 inches long, cap the ends so they look like the ends of a matchbox, and start drawing another bridge after the cap. This second jumper should be capped on both sides so that they look like open loops. Draw to the end of the edge. Start again from the top on the opposite side and draw the loops so that they intersect on the previous lines you drew.

### 42) Illumination screw

Start with your sheet of paper and a pencil. Proceed to draw a curved line down about 3 inches, draw another one to the right, and draw another sharp line down again. You can now draw back up, be sure to make a sharp line to form an inverted triangle, about an inch longer than the other line. Draw another line to the left, this time shorter.

Draw a line almost parallel to the first line you drew and end with a straight line back to where you started. Also, shading is optional, but you can shade the lines to give a substantial effect.
